In his address to Congress, King Charles highlighted the “unbreakable” bonds between the United States and the United Kingdom, stressing shared democratic values and the importance of the transatlantic alliance. He acknowledged “times of great uncertainty” in the world and called for continued cooperation, including strong support for Ukraine and the NATO alliance.
The speech also touched on the 250th anniversary of American independence, with the King noting that despite historical differences, the destinies of both nations remain deeply interlinked.
President Trump described the meeting with the King as “really good” and called him a “fantastic person.” The visit comes at a time of some tensions between the Trump administration and the UK government over issues including the ongoing situation with Iran.
King Charles is scheduled to continue his U.S. visit with stops in New York and Virginia later this week.
